The Cause Of Depression
You won't find a single person on Earth that will confess to wanting to be depressed. It's just not the kind of goal that is inspiring in any way!
However what is interesting to note is that when people are depressed it is often a choice. It is not something that they may be aware of however the behaviours a person has causes them to be depressed.
To look at it at the simplest level a depressed person often thinks depressing thoughts. This much is obvious however it doesn't just stop with the person's thoughts. There are other things that they do that also cause them to be depressed.
One of the major factors contributing to depression is a person's physiology. How often do you see a depressed person standing straight with their head in the clouds and a smile on their face? You never do.
When you see a depressed person they are looking down and are often hunched over. In this physiology it is hard to feel empowered. And looking down in this way causes the person to get in touch with those bad feelings that are making them depressed.
Getting Out Of It
All depressed people want to know how to be happy and want the solution. The answer is that they need to decide to become happier.
This does not detract from the seriousness of depression in any way. Depression can affect anyone and people of all ages and living all over the world suffer from it. Unlike physical ailments when you are at the mercy of medicine and factors that you may not be able to control, depression is something that you can climb out of yourself.
One of the first things that a depressed person can do is to try and change their state or physiology. For example if when the person listens to uplifting songs there is a change in their physiology or a smile erupts on their face, then the person easily has what it takes to take themselves out of depression.
Other things can still make them happy. There are people where nothing will seem to work. Funny jokes and films have no impact. They have to get straight to the source and straighten out their physiology.
This means taking deeper breaths, looking up instead of down and getting to work on troubling thinking patterns. This may seem like a lot of work but feelings can change instantly. If enough changes are made to a person's physiology then they can no longer be upset.
The Knowledge Required
Depressed people must learn how they are causing their depression and what they must do to stop it from happening. This is the most useful knowledge for them in the long term if they are to stay happy. Those that master their physiology can one day say I am happy and be rid of their past woes.
Knowledge of what causes depression really is important. If someone has the right physiology it is impossible to be depressed or think the thoughts that cause them.
However it is also worth examining what kinds of thoughts have caused woes in the past and replace them with more empowering thoughts. It is useful to change the person's perspective and offer them ways to look at their problems in different ways.
This is easier to do once their physiology has changed the way the feel. The person is more open to empowering suggestions and alternatives once they realize the massive impact something as small as physiology can have.
Having depression is life changing yet it can have positive results. A person that learns how to escape it learns many things about their mind and body. If they really take those lessons to heart they can live a much happier life in the future.
